Spin Number 10
We have a new SPIN challenge.
Spin Challenge Number 10
Below are the rules. The same as the last spin.
Pick twenty books that you’ve got left to read from your Classics Club List.
Try to challenge yourself:
list five you are dreading/hesitant to read,
five you can’t WAIT to read,
five you are neutral about,
and five free choice (favorite author, rereads, ancients — whatever you choose.)
Post that list, numbered 1-20, on your blog by next Monday. (August 24th)
Monday morning, we’ll announce a number from 1-20. Go to the list of twenty books you posted, and select the book that corresponds to the number we announce.
The challenge is to read that book by October 23, even if it’s an icky one you dread reading! (No fair not listing any scary ones!)
Below is MY Spin List for August
1 Richard Adams - Watership Down
2 Frances Hodgson Burnett - The Secret Garden
3 Rachel Carson - Silent Spring
4 Susan Coolidge - What Katy did at School

Great list! This is the second time that I participate and I can't wait to find out which will be the lucky number. Anyway, from your list I've read The Great Gatsby and The Phantom of the Opera and I loved both of them.
ReplyDeleteMy list: http://thereadingarmchair.blogspot.gr/2015/08/the-classics-club-spin-10.html
I loved Watership Down as a child, I should really read it again. And I haven't read that du Maurier so I'm intrigued, I hope you get that one so I can read your review! The Railway Children is also wonderful. Good luck on your Spin pick!
ReplyDeleteFun stuff! Lots of those books are ones I have loved.
ReplyDeleteOh! I hope you get Little House on the Prairie! I love the Wilder books! xx
ReplyDeleteThe Name of the Rose is wonderful. I just finished reading Little House on the Prairie with my kid, and we had a good time. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing I change up my list every time I participate.
ReplyDeleteI love your kids classics & I read Silent Spring from one of my earlier spins - interesting and frustrating that so little has changed since Carson wrote it in the 60's.
ReplyDeleteGood luck
I'm reading The Canterbury Tales right now and they're lots of fun. You've reminded me that I simply must get to Watership Down at some point; I've heard that it's quite excellent.
ReplyDeleteHave a great spin!
Ooh, looks like you're reading Chaucer! :) I haven't read it yet but I have a copy at home, waiting for better times.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed Watership Down and The Secret Garden. The Secret Garden is one of my favourite childhood books! :) I also read The Name of the Rose (in Slovenian translation), which was cool but the descriptions were sometimes a bit too long. But I had to read the Great Gatsby for my highschool graduation exam and I didn't enjoy it - but lots of people love it so I hope you'll be one of those who do!
